2014 / 08 / 13 - A Let's Play by AniFangirl

AniFangirl has been patient enough to do a let's play of Life Precious.
Go see her Youtube Channel to look at her take on the game, and her other vids too!

2014 / 06 / 13 - A review on rpgmaker.net

Better late than never. A nice soul, NeverSilent, took some of his time to review the game in details: Read it here!
I'm happy to know he enjoyed the story and recognized my tentatives to diversify the gameplay.
And I'm sad he met so many bugs during his playtest... I thought I've ironed my game enough. Apparently not enough.

2014 / 02 / 25 - Life Precious on Steam Workshop !!!

The availability of RPG Maker on Steam anounced not only agressive sales from time to time, but also a possible upload of one's project on Valve's behemoth. What was a distant possibility yesterday is now reality: Steam Workshop enables RM VX ACE games to be accessible online.
Life Precious is now available on Steam -> Workshop -> RPG Maker VX ACE.
A new way to enjoy the game, and another insurance to find the project on the net. Champagne!

2014 / 01 / 27 - Alex D'Or 2013, Life Precious - reviews!

Life Precious didn't get any nomination. Predictable, given the high quality level of the other contestants. Still, the game received some in depth reviews. Here are some extracts from them, by four judges of the contest. Thanks again for their time and dedication. The full reviews are available (in french) on www.alexdor.info.

Review by Esziaprez
"The heroine has a cute personnality. She whistles when an item is found, she's funny, temeraire. We rapidly guess the flirt with her acolyte, who is protective toward her."

Review by Atwars
"Despite the RTP only visuals, the game has its charms through a simple and easy story, and we enjoy the final minigames. It's well directed and we have fun with a nice difficulty curve."

Review by Cheikh35
"I've enjoyed the quality of the dialogs between the characters, the movements during cutscenes which add a little more to the setup. Dialogs are really cunning, filled with humor neither heavy nor useless. We'll get back to it later, but the personnality of each character is really put on use during those phases of storytelling.
...
Every character has his own history, his way to look at things, his way to act, and we feel it through the dialogs and personnal story of each one."

Review by Geckoessence
"With the very few possibilities offered by this version of RPG maker, we end up with a well-told story, of which we understand quite fast its causes and its consequences.
The addition to dedicated actions - as the run, god this one has made an impact on me - and the use of musics and appropriate visuals for each moment - or nearly each - triggers a good immersion for the player. If the result is somewhat approximative from time to time, globaly, everything is well presented.
...
If the game in itself has nothing to fancy about - walking in dungeons while evading enemies to find a treasure and go to the next -, the fact the maker added into the mix a compelling story and, especially, has made a complete game with a limited version of RPG Maker, I say "Congrats!". We are playing a game exploiting the maximum you could get from a free version, with good level of quality, and no bug encountered on my side."

2013 / 09 / 12 - Alex d'Or 2013, Life Precious is "apt"

The Alex d'Or 2013 pre-reviews are out. And Life Precious is among the lucky ones.
The game has been judged good enough to continue the contest, and aims for nominations in several categories.
While it's unlikely this project will be present in any of them, given the very high level of its 31 challengers, it's still a victory for me.
This is the acknowledgement of its "design model": build on the constraints, focus on what you do best, do it like a commercial release all along.
On the other side of the Atlantic, Life Precious has passed the 7000 views on www.rpgmaker.net.

2013 / 08 / 01 - Alex d'Or 2013 contest

The last day of July marked the deadline to submit a project at the Alex d'Or 2013 contest.
It's an online RPG Maker contest, where anyone can present his work, which will then be judged by a jury of amateur yet seasoned makers.
There's several prizes to win, from writing to sound design, an audience favorite vote, and various other distinctions.
All this is for free, and serves purely to entertain the RM french community around an annual rendez-vous.
Life Precious is among those which have been submitted to the scrutiny of fellow makers.
The first phase will be a pre-selection, to decrease the number of projects for the jury to review, since a game must offer a minimal level of polish to participate.
Let's see if Life Precious will get its go.
The version 1.1.3 is available, both in zip and exe format. Lots of changes and tweaks have been made since the 1.1.2.
While the core of the game remains the same, playability has been greatly increased. Thanks to all those who gave me feedback, both online and during the FLIP contest.

2013 / 07 / 15 - FLIP 2013 Contest, the day after

From 11th to 13th of July, Life Precious attended a local amateur videogame contest,
Trophees FLIP 2013, with other similar projects.
Congratulations to the two winners of the contest: Scrolling Survivor and Greyhound Race.
During those three days, Life Precious has known, through the inputs of its numerous players, several tweaks since its first version.
The core of the game remains the same, but difficulty has been ajusted, and there're more ingame hints to make the playsessions smoother.
The final version, 1.1.3, will be available for the deadline of the Alex D'Or 2013. The end of July 2013.

2013 / 05 / 26 - Artbook available

The game's artbook is available both in pdf and kindle format.
You can order a physical copy from lulu.com.
More details in the Goodies section.

2013 / 05 / 22 - Version 1.1.2

"Merchant leaves the hideout before the final scene" corrected. Minor spelling mistakes corrected. Some very minor visual improvements on a few maps. Useless files deleted for a smaller file size. English game installer is online!
Ingame screenshots are available in the Goodies section.

2013 / 05 / 11 - Version 1.1.1

Missing audio file item.ogg corrected. Minor corrections on credits and ending sequences.

2013 / 05 / 05 - International version is released

Quite a few news to report!
The most important one: Life Precious is available in dual language, in zip format, to download. Help yourself!
It also participates in the RMN's "Release Something Weekend", in Full Game category.
A promotionnal video is available on the homepage. Right-click on it to download the file.
Goodies section should be available within two weeks, time for me to warp up nice things to look at.
This week has been a busy one. But it was worth it.

2013 / 05 / 02 - Website opening
